SILK IS A FAMILY STORY

The silk used came from China via the port of Marseille, was transported to silk manufacturers in Lyon, then milled and woven outside Lyon.

The finishing operations (scouring, dyeing, finishing) took place in the Lyon suburbs. In the Pilat and Annonay regions, muslin was woven, a transparent fabric with a very fine base thread (20g for 9km of thread). The fluidity of the fabric is achieved by twisting the thread around 3,000 times for 1 metre. The silk belonged to the silk manufacturer.

The millers, weavers and dyers were service providers. They were also known as façonniers.

In the 1970s, we had to diversify and consequently buy our own yarn to approach other customers. Since 1983, we have had two main sites, the head office in Vinzieux and the second in Lupé. (France).

It is at the latter site that we develop our scarf business under the Lyre brand.
